Our Charity

Aid4orphans is a charity Peter and Vanessa have set up to initially provide financial assistance and educational sponsorship for the children of The Likoni Aids Orphanage in Kenya. The Charity has since developed to support The Timbwani Baptist School which has an association with The Orphanage, The Child of Mercy orphanage and The Bongwe Primary School in Ukunda.

We provide most of the food requirements for the 2 orphanages and assist with elcetricity costs, rent, staff wages and general expenses. By linking the schools in Kenya with schools in Cornwall we have initiated projects to build classrooms, have electricity connected and supply computers along with helping with resources and staff costs

How did Aid4Orphans come about?

During a visit to Kenya during August 2007 we visited the orphanage and and were fortunate enough to spend some time with these lovely children.

Despite the tragic circumstances which led to these children finding themselves in an orphanage, they consider themselves lucky to have a home and they greeted us with enthusiastic smiles. It was a humbling experience which left us with a desire to help them as much as we can. We are in awe of Reverend Ernest who runs this home against all the odds and is dedicated to the children’s welfare.

How to help

Donations of money, no matter how small, will help pay for food, rent, medical needs, education, clothes and shoes. 100% of funds raised will go straight to the orphange via a specially set up account. During 2008 we  raised over £5,000.00,in  2009 over £8,000.00 and in 2011 over £16,000 with the help of our family & friends and local schools through many events including  race evenings, bingo evenings, sponsored walk & half marathon, cake sale, car boot sales and sponsorships.

Sponsorship of children.

Sponsoring the education of a child will change their life chances and help lift them out of the poverty and Aids scourge cycle they are currently in.

Sponsoring a child will mean that the child has a private education, clothes, shoes, a daily lunch, books and materials.

The cost of sponsorship for a childs primary education is £12 a month. This covers school fees, shoes, uniform, exam fees and all necessary writing materials. In return sponsors will receive a photo of the child they are assisting along with occasional letters and drawings.

We also ave a food fund for the Orphanage were we ask wellwishers to donate £4 per month by means of a standing order to our Charity Bank account., we then purchase bulk supplies from a food wholesaler in Mombasa who arranges the deliveries. We desperately need more assistance in this area if anyone can spare a small amount each month.
